SATURDAY 3rd May....
As ye are well aware our match against Cusacks was called off due to a bit of rain but the good news is we picked up two points for the draw (3 for a win, 2 for a draw and one for a loss, don't ask me????). That leaves us on top of the league with 7 points after three matches.
This weekend is a free one for us so a trip out to the sticks is planned with a bit of bonding in the form of paintballing and drinking.

The year so far.....
Poker night Part2....
We held our second poker night of the year on Friday April the 4th in Bondi Junctions Cock n Bull.
It was another great turn out for the clubs fundraiser and the night went off without a hitch. Congrats to Eamonn Diamond (Meath) and Tommy Moran (Galway) who shared the 1st prize of $700. We are going to hold Tommy to his word and make sure he buys the club a set of training bibs out of his hard earned winnings.

Central Coast annual sports day.....
Took the trip up the coast to Gosford for the Central Coasts 27th annual sports day.
We beat Penrith Gaels in our first match but were beaten by eventual winners Wolfe Tones (Melbourne) in our second match and as a result it was an early exit for us.
Needless to say the session after was great craic, will throw up the photos from the day when we get them.
Annual 10 a side summer comp.....
Well done to all the lads who went down to Wollongong Uni on Sunday the 9th March to take part in the annual 10 a side summer comp.
Going for four in a row the boys came through the hardest of the two groups. We made the finals by beating Penrith Gaels, Wollongong and then Michael Cusacks. Our first real test of the day came against Clan Na Gael. In a hard fought game both sides finished on equal scores which resulted in us going through to the finals having topped our group.
In the final we came up against arch rivals McAnallens for the third competition in a row.
Unfortunately the result didn't go our way and in the end after extra time we came up short by three points.
Pearces 7 a side Melbourne.....
Went down to Melbourne for the Pearces sevens and finished runners up. Beat reigning Victorian champions Wolfe Tones in the semi finals, as a result they have decided to make the trip north of the border for the San Remo blitz on the Central Coast on March 30th.
Poker night......
Our first poker night of the year in the Cock n Bull on the 29th Feb was a great success with a strong turn out .Thanks to everyone who turned up for the night, have a look at our photo section for pics from the night or click the image to the right.

2007 the year that was........ 2007 was a bumper year for Young Ireland with us winning all the possible Men's New South Wales competitions. We won the Summer 10 a sides for the third year in a row, we won the Gosford competition for the first time in five years, the league title was again ours after a four year absence.
But the main prize that every team aspires to is the championship which we took out in style in September for the third year on the trot, all in all it was a good year for the men in green and gold.
